Jonathan Burgess, MD, MPH is a medical doctor, author, speaker, yogi, and published chef who is passionate about diet, meditation, and exercise interventions for the promotion of optimum mental health  and the prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders.

 

He is author of three book chapters on diet and lifestyle interventions for psychiatric disorders, two of which were commissioned by the American Psychiatric Association.

He has over 20 publications and academic presentations, including 6 Grand Rounds presentations a major academic hospitals. He has been a returning faculty at Harvard School of Public Health Continuing Medical Education Conferences in addition to speaking at Massachusetts General Hospital,  Veterans Health Affairs, University of Vermont, Austen Riggs Center, Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, as well as other hospitals, retreat centers, and corporations.

He was formerly the Manager of the Wellness Program at Ipswitch, Inc, a 330-person Information Technology company in Lexington, Massachusetts.

He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, received his Doctor of Medicine from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and a Master of Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He has completed research at Stanford University School of Medicine, Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard Medical School.

He has publications in the American Psychiatric Association Publishing, the American Journal of Psychiatry, JAMA Internal Medicine, Academic Medicine, and other academic journals.
